Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on court had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
